Hey there. This is Chris Ellis, Friendly neighborhood life coach.

Question for you.

How are those New Year’s resolutions coming along?

Are you still working on them? Did you even start?

If you said anything less than, “Chris, I’m crushing it right now,” this post is for you.

In just a moment I’m going to reveal a simple exercise you can do that can dramatically change your year.

If you think this is yet another article selling you the importance of getting organized and buying the right planner (or bullet journal) … this isn’t that kind of post.

Also, if you think I’m going to spout off the same tired advice about the importance of sacrificing sleep/relaxation and hustle 24/7… this ain’t that post either.

Today I want to talk about something entirely different.

I’m here to reveal my lazy but SUPER-EFFECTIVE secret to crushing New Year’s Resolutions ( or any set of tasks ).

It’s a simple exercise that can produce noticeable results in as little as an hour.

Before I go into the exercise, you might be asking yourself, “Who are you and why should I be listening to some random guy online?”

Allow me to (re)introduce myself.

I’m Chris and I’m a life mastery coach. Basically I train people to be instinctively and consistently excellent in key areas of their lives – faster than they ever thought possible.

Before I was in the business of changing lives my life was in shambles.

I was a college dropout that worked a dead-end job, scooping ice cream for a living for nearly minimum wage. I lived in the YMCA in a studio apartment, the size of a walk-in closet. I was always a skinny dude growing up but I had gain 100 pounds since I was 18 years old and I was painfully single. #foreveralone

I was a loser, deeply depressed and suicidal.

But I didn’t kill myself. Instead I decided to spend all my time learning the secrets of rapid life transformation. At 30 years old I decided to put everything I learned into practice.

The following happened:

  • I paid off thousands of dollars in debt.
  • Fixed my credit and student loan issues.
  • Got married and started a family.
  • Launched 2 different business ventures.
  • Tripled my income
  • Wrote and published a book
  • Etc. I went from being a college dropout to being paid to speak at college campuses. And I lost 50 pounds.

This all happened by the time I was 33 years old. You read that right. In a little over 3 years, I racked up a series of major wins that dramatically changed my life.

My point here is that I’m really good at crushing my resolutions.

Most people think I’m able to knock out my tasks largely because I hustle around the clock.This is absolutely untrue.

I’m remarkably lazy, love to sleep and I watch copious amounts of TV.

If I’m not hustling around the clock what’s the secret?

I simply have an overwhelming amount of self-confidence.

I’ve studied the science of high achievement for years. I can safely say that your belief in yourself is the most important factor in accomplishing any goal, especially ones that are difficult and/or outside of your comfort-zone.

The issue is, most of us don’t have the confidence that we need to pursue our goals because we have an inner-critic that is constantly second-guessing our ability. Every-time you attempt something new/scary there’s this little voice in your head psyching you out, rattling off all of your past failures.

Ultimately, our inner-critics specialize in making convincing arguments to shoot down our confidence. Let’s Review

  1. Having overwhelming self-confidence is the easiest way to manifest your dreams.
  2. Your inner-critic is your main road block in achievement

This means the secret to high achievement is to be an expert in dealing with your inner critic.

The good news is it’s amazingly easy to shut-down your inner critic. You just need to be able to predict its argument and have a counter-argument already prepared.

In fact, all you have to do is sit down and write a letter to your inner-critic. It’s that easy and anyone can do it.

If you use my personal-method of drafting the letter, you’ll feel a difference in your confidence level in as little as an hour.

That’s why I call this strategy my super-lazy AND super-effective method for high achievement.

(Nothing to see here. Just grindin’ till the early A.M. #HUSTLEHARD!!! … JK… I’m relaxing again – This time with the Mrs.)

It’s a game changer. I’m going to show exactly how effective this method can be using myself as an example.

Remember when I said earlier that I wrote a book?

What I didn’t mention was that, years prior, I tried to write two other books but failed miserably. Granted it was before I had amassed all the skill I have now. However, even though I wasn’t the same person I was before, when I sat down at my computer I had the craziest writer’s block. All I kept thinking about was my past failures.

I was stuck so I did the following:

Step 1: I was ruthlessly honest about my past failures. In my ruthless honesty I realize that I wasn’t really as interested in the subject of the books, as much as I thought. Back then, I was a poser. I was more interested in the social status that came with saying I was a writer than actually writing. I thought being honest with myself would make me feel worse about myself, but it did the total opposite. I feel liberated. I wasn’t a failure. I just didn’t really care.

Step 2: Wrote a letter to my inner critic detailing what I’m capable of, along with what I planned to do if/when issues arose.

Step 3: I read the letter aloud over and over again until I internalized it subconsciously.

When I did that exercise, I no longer had anything holding me back.

The Result: I completed all 200+ pages of the book and self-published it in just a few months.

The exercise worked so well that I started using it in my coaching services. The consistent feedback I’ve gotten is that it’s…
